General Liability Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected civil litigation law firm is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Associate Attorney to join its General Liability practice group. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation, research, and writing skills, and be comfortable managing a civil caseload from inception through trial. Location:

• Washington, D.C.

Duties:

• Review legal files and perform detailed analysis of claims and causes of action

• Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate documents

• Represent clients at depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and trials

• Draft and respond to discovery requests

• Collaborate with expert witnesses

• Prepare for and attend trial proceedings

• Manage a caseload with an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours

• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations

• Occasional travel may be required

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of General Liability experience, preferably involving transportation and auto cases

• Proven experience handling cases from initial filing to resolution

• Skilled in conducting and defending depositions, including expert and 30(b)(6) witnesses

• Experienced in drafting and arguing motions and participating in negotiations

• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team

• Must be responsive and maintain professional communication with clients and colleagues

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar admission in both Washington, D.C. and Maryland

• Admission in additional states is a plus
