Litigation Associate

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate in Oakland, CA. The firm provides comprehensive legal services to public agencies, private entities, and individuals across California. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team, working alongside experienced attorneys to deliver strategic legal representation.

Duties

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and other litigation documents.
• Engage with clients, experts, third-party administrators, opposing counsel, and witnesses.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive legal issues.
• Participate in client interviews, witness preparation, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Attend court hearings and assist in trial proceedings as appropriate.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners throughout all stages of litigation, including appeals and enforcement of judgments.
• Assist in defending complex civil litigation matters involving government tort liability and public entity defense, as well as civil rights and constitutional claims.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of litigation experience.
• Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the California State Bar.
