A law firm in Louisville is seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney. The attorney will be responsible for advocating on behalf of clients in workers' compensation claims. This includes reviewing and preparing summaries of medical records, drafting motions, attending court hearings, preparing clients for depositions, responding to discovery requests, and regularly attending court appearances. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent research abilities, and strong written and oral communication skills. Admittance to practice in the State of Illinois is required.

 

Duties:

  • Reviewing and preparing summaries of medical records to effectively advocate for clients.
  • Drafting motions and attending hearings to represent clients in court.
  • Preparing clients for depositions and attending depositions as needed.
  • Drafting initial reports, interim reports, pre-trial reports, trials, and appellate activity.
  • Responding to discovery requests and drafting discovery-related motions.
  • Regularly attending court appearances to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Taking and defending depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.
  • Drafting motions for summary judgments.

 

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
  • 3-10 years of experience specializing in defending against all types of workers’ compensation claims.
  • Experience with cases involving The Jones Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent research abilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to draft and respond to discovery-related motions.
  • Regularly attend court appearances.
  • Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in the State of Illinois.
