Job Overview: A law firm specializing in intellectual property seeks a skilled Patent Attorney to join their San Antonio, TX team. The ideal candidate will have AI technology expertise and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with inventors and clients.

Job Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to AI technologies.
  • Collaborate with inventors to assess the patentability of new AI inventions.
  • Conduct prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Stay updated on the latest AI technology advancements and patent laws.
  • Liaise with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field involving AI/ML.
  • Experience with AI models, neural networks, and deep learning.
  • Proficiency in AI/ML theory, including backpropagation, regularization, optimization, preprocessing data, selecting features, training/tuning models, and deploying models to production environments.
  • Domain experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, natural language processing, wireless communications, computer vision, or related AI fields preferred.
  • Registered to practice with the USPTO.
  • Active member and in good standing of TX Bar or eligible to waive into the appropriate Bar.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or related technical field.
  • Registered to practice with the USPTO.
  • Active member and in good standing of TX Bar or eligible to waive into the appropriate Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of AI technologies and patent laws.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Experience in managing patent portfolios and client interactions.
