Job Title: Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm based in Columbia, SC, is expanding its litigation team and seeking an experienced attorney with a solid foundation in handling complex legal disputes. The role centers on managing diverse civil litigation matters, including insurance defense, from initial investigation through trial or resolution. This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional with strong advocacy skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage a caseload with autonomy and precision.

Duties:

  • Draft comprehensive legal documents, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, discovery responses, and appellate briefs

  • Oversee all stages of litigation, including case intake, strategy development, settlement discussions, and trial preparation

  • Conduct in-depth investigations to assess liability and damages in personal injury and related matters

  • Represent clients in mediations, depositions, and court hearings

  • Manage written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions

  • Deliver practical legal guidance to clients and assist with maintaining professional client relationships

  • Collaborate with internal teams to support case strategy and client objectives

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing litigation, preferably in a civil or insurance defense context

  • Active license to practice law in the state of South Carolina

  • Proficiency in handling high-volume caseloads and delivering results under deadlines

  • Exceptional legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must be a member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar

Skills:

  • Legal research and analytical reasoning

  • Litigation and case strategy development

  • Time management and organizational efficiency

  • Professional written and verbal communication

  • Adaptability to various practice areas such as municipal law, administrative law, and insurance coverage
