A law firm in St. Louis is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, possess solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and exhibit superb writing and communication skills. The role requires expertise in patent preparation and prosecution, specifically in the areas of medical devices and mechanical engineering. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a mandatory requirement.

Duties:

• Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art to assess patentability.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
• Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent filings.
• Provide legal advice on intellectual property matters, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Assist in patent litigation support, as needed.

Requirements:

• A degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering is required.
• Alternatively, other engineering disciplines coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products are acceptable.
• Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
• 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience is preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
