The law firm is seeking a dynamic and qualified Junior to Midlevel Patent Agent (Life Sciences) to join its team in Madison. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry and possess 2+ years of patent prosecution experience. The candidate should be adept at drafting patent applications, exhibit excellent communication skills, and thrive in a collaborative team environment. Admission to the USPTO is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution activities, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other team members to assess and strategize patent-related matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their technology and intellectual property needs.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Stay abreast of developments in patent law and relevant technologies within the life sciences sector.

 

Requirements:

  • Hold a degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry, or a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Admission to the USPTO is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience at a firm or in-house.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment.
  • Highly-motivated self-starter with excellent business judgment.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
