A law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Patent Attorney with 1-4 years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate must be registered to practice before the United States Patent Office and possess excellent communication and writing skills. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in or work experience with software, including artificial intelligence and machine learning. Strong work ethic and law firm experience, along with Arizona Bar admission, are highly preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting interviews with inventors to assess patentability and gather necessary information.
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications, including overcoming rejections under 35 U.S.C. §101.
  • Conducting patent searches and analyzing prior art.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance on patent strategy and portfolio management.
  • Assisting with patent litigation support as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be registered to practice before the United States Patent Office.
  • 1-4 years of experience in patent law.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Degree in software engineering, or related field preferred.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in software engineering, or related field preferred.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Arizona Bar strongly preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in patent drafting and prosecution.
  • Knowledge of patent laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with software, artificial intelligence, and machine learning concepts.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information and communicate it effectively.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
