Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Junior Immigration Litigation Associate in New York City, NY. The role involves managing legal operations and handling immigration-related litigation matters, providing oversight to the local legal team, and representing clients in various proceedings.

Duties

  • Manage day-to-day legal operations of the Flushing field office.
  • Handle immigration-related litigation from intake to completion.
  • Represent clients in removal and detained proceedings.
  • Attend USCIS interviews and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Prepare and file motions, briefs, and evidence with relevant authorities.
  • File Notices of Appeal and appellate briefs with the BIA.
  • Conduct legal research and draft immigration petitions and memoranda.
  • Assist with Special Immigrant Juvenile Status petitions in Family Courts.
  • Work independently while collaborating with the supervising attorney.
  • Provide guidance to junior attorneys and supervise support staff.
  • Maintain communication with the Senior Immigration Litigation Attorney.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree required.
  • Admitted to any State Bar (NY preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of immigration court complex litigation experience.
  • Federal Circuit Courts (1st to 11th) Admission a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Outstanding time management to oversee a large docket of cases.

Education

  • J.D. degree required.

Certifications

  • Admitted to any State Bar (NY preferred).
