The ideal candidate will possess a deep-seated passion for veterans' issues and a proven track record in handling disability claims and appeals before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Board of Veterans' Appeals (BVA). Duties:

  • Represent veterans in disability claims and appeals before the VA and BVA.
  • Perform comprehensive case analyses to develop and execute effective legal strategies.
  • Prepare and present detailed legal documents, including briefs, motions, and appeals, ensuring they are backed by thorough research and precise argumentation.
  • Maintain regular and empathetic communication with clients, informing them of case progress and developments.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure a cohesive approach to case management.
  • Stay updated on the latest laws, regulations, and policies impacting veterans' benefits and rights.
  • Participate in and lead outreach and educational initiatives to support the veteran community, enhancing awareness and access to legal resources.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional ethics and client confidentiality in all interactions and proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with a State Bar, preferably in North Carolina.
  • At least 1 year of direct, hands-on experience in veterans' disability law, including substantial work with agency and BVA claims.
  • Demonstrated passion for veteran advocacy and a track record of successful case outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills, superior research capabilities, and exceptional writing and drafting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and care.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) required.

Certifications:

  • Must be a licensed attorney in good standing with a State Bar, North Carolina preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research and writing, able to craft compelling legal arguments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and other veterans' benefits community professionals.
