A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Insurance Coverage Litigation Associate Attorney for their Kansas City, MO office.

Job Overview:

The Mid-Level Insurance Coverage Litigation Associate Attorney will handle various aspects of insurance coverage litigation, including drafting pleadings motions, conducting discovery, and working closely with clients and other parties involved in the litigation process. The ideal candidate should have 4-6 years of litigation experience, focusing on insurance coverage litigation.

Duties:

  • Drafting complex case evaluations, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Handling all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and appeal where relevant
  • Conducting, propounding, and responding to discovery, including documents, written discovery, and depositions
  • Collaborating with clients, witnesses, experts, and other counsel
  • Analyzing insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions or other coverage analyses

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of litigation experience, with an emphasis on insurance coverage litigation
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills
  • Strong work ethic and dedication to achieving goals
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues, clients, adversaries, and courts
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and business development skills
  • Embraces teamwork and values collaboration
  • Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship experience is a plus
  • Experience handling PFAS (poly-fluoroalkyl substances) litigation is a plus
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and be in good standing

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of Missouri

Skills:

  • Strong writing and case management skills
  • Direct experience handling clients and adversaries
  • Excellent oral advocacy skills
