Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Columbia, SC, is seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney with a strong foundation in property and financial services litigation. This role is ideal for a professional with courtroom experience and a proactive approach to handling real estate disputes, title issues, and creditor rights matters. The position offers flexibility for remote work and the opportunity to manage a caseload with significant autonomy while supporting institutional clients.

Duties:

  • Manage a diverse litigation docket, including but not limited to probate, title disputes, wrongful foreclosure, evictions, and tax-related legal issues

  • Attend court hearings, conduct discovery, and oversee cases through resolution, settlement, or trial

  • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, discovery, court orders, and correspondence

  • Address client disputes, adhering to relevant investor and regulatory requirements

  • Resolve title issues through curative legal actions, ensuring a clear title status

  • Provide legal analysis and guidance based on current laws and case precedents

  • Maintain compliance with state and federal legal standards

Requirements:

  • Admission to practice law in South Carolina and good standing

  • Availability for occasional travel as casework demands

  • Ability to manage high volumes of work in a deadline-sensitive environment

  • Strong legal drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills

  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a legal team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in South Carolina

  • Admission in additional states is a plus

Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in litigation, with emphasis on real estate or financial services

  • Familiarity with FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, and other federal and state consumer protection laws

  • Background in foreclosure, bankruptcy, or eviction proceedings preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
