A law firm in Weddington, NC, is seeking an experienced Estate Planning and Elder Law Attorney to manage and advise on cases involving estates, trusts, wills, and elder law in the Union and Mecklenburg County areas. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a senior certified elder law attorney and collaborate with a skilled team of elder law professionals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in estate planning and elder law, demonstrating exceptional communication, negotiation skills, and a client-focused approach.

Duties:

  • Assist in handling various legal matters related to estate planning, trusts, wills, and elder law across Union and Mecklenburg Counties.
  • Meet with potential clients to discuss and advise on legal services provided by the firm, focusing on their specific legal needs.
  • Draft and review legal documents, conduct legal research, and organize client meetings to plan their estates and address elder law issues effectively.
  • Prioritize client needs to ensure top-level service delivery, maintain regular communication, and collaborate closely with the Client Experience team.
  • Provide creative legal solutions by thoroughly analyzing client situations, understanding their requirements, and developing tailored strategies.
  • Accurately record and report time spent on cases, adhering to billing practices for hourly and flat fee arrangements.
  • Travel to various offices within the designated counties as required to meet client needs and case demands.
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys within the firm to enhance practice efficiency and client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a license to practice law in North Carolina; dual licensure in South Carolina is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience specializing in estate planning, trust/estate administration, and elder law, including Medicaid planning and long-term care benefits.
  • CELA (Certified Elder Law Attorney) certification is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in litigation, particularly in guardianship and estate litigation cases, is desirable.
  • Excellent ability to track and manage billing time efficiently.
  • Strong negotiation and superior communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar license in North Carolina; South Carolina license preferred.
  • CELA certification would be a plus.
