Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced associate to join its Real Estate Finance practice in New York. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 7 years of experience handling complex commercial real estate finance matters, including mortgage and mezzanine financings, preferred equity investments, and a wide range of structured lending and intercreditor arrangements. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated transactions across various asset classes and financing structures in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Advise on a wide range of real estate finance transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine loans

  • Represent lenders and borrowers in preferred equity investments and permanent/bridge loan originations

  • Structure and negotiate construction loans, loan participations, and syndications

  • Draft and review co-lender agreements, intercreditor agreements, and other complex finance documents

  • Manage and negotiate loan modifications, workouts, and restructurings

  • Coordinate with real estate, tax, and corporate teams to support full transaction lifecycle

  • Conduct legal due diligence and assist in transaction closings

Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of commercial real estate finance experience from a top-tier law firm

  • Strong background in real estate lending, including both borrower and lender representation

  • Proven ability to manage complex financing transactions independently

  • Experience with a variety of debt structures and capital stacks

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Strong academic credentials required

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (New York preferred)

Skills:

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills

  • Deep understanding of real estate finance structures and deal mechanics

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously under tight deadlines

  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player
