Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Washington, DC, is looking for a Financial Markets Associate Attorney to join its esteemed Financial Markets practice. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in financial institutions, financial markets, or fintechs, with a strong focus on enforcement and regulatory matters. The attorney will work on complex legal matters involving commodities, banking, or securities laws and will be expected to handle significant responsibility in both regulatory compliance and enforcement proceedings. Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis on regulatory issues impacting financial institutions, markets, and fintechs.
  • Prepare filings in enforcement, application, or regulatory matters before relevant agencies, including the CFTC, SEC, and state/federal banking regulators.
  • Assist with fact-gathering efforts related to regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple practice areas to provide strategic legal advice to clients.
  • Contribute to drafting and reviewing legal documents such as memoranda, reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Engage in client interactions and maintain strong relationships with financial institution clients.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in law firm, government, or in-house positions related to financial institutions, financial markets, or fintechs.
  • Experience handling matters under commodities, banking, or securities laws.
  • Proficiency in navigating regulatory frameworks and agencies such as the CFTC, SEC, and federal/state banking regulators.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of legal matters while contributing to team efforts.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC (or eligibility to waive in).

Skills:

  • Strong research, writing, and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and enforcement proceedings in financial markets.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
