Job Overview:

The Patent Attorney will be responsible for patent prosecution and communication with clients and colleagues. They will work within a dynamic team environment to draft and prosecute patent applications primarily in the mechanical engineering domain.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the mechanical engineering field.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding patent matters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in various U.S. time zones.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to patent prosecution.
  • Assist in patent portfolio management and strategy development.

Requirements:

  • Eligible to be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or relevant field; or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a patent attorney or agent.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Interest in patent prosecution.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • M.S. in mechanical engineering or relevant field.
  • Prior patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting.
  • Admission to practice before the USPTO is a plus.

Skills:

  • Proficient in drafting patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Ability to conduct legal research and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
