Job Overview:

A prominent law firm with a nationally recognized Private Client practice is seeking a highly skilled International Estate Planning Associate or Senior Associate with a minimum of 4 years’ experience advising high-net-worth individuals and businesses on cross-border estate and tax planning. This role is ideal for attorneys with demonstrated experience in sophisticated international trusts and estates matters. The position can be based in any of the firm’s U.S. office locations and offers flexible hybrid or remote work arrangements.

Location:

  • Parsippany, NJ

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on cross-border estate and tax planning for U.S. and non-U.S. clients

  • Advise multinational families and family offices on wealth management and trust structures

  • Plan for non-U.S. citizens acquiring U.S. assets and U.S. citizens residing or holding assets abroad

  • Handle foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation planning, and planning related to U.S. real estate investments by foreign persons

  • Ensure compliance with international tax reporting obligations

  • Collaborate with attorneys across corporate, tax, and family office practices

  • Draft planning documents, legal opinions, and client advisories

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning or cross-border tax planning

  • Demonstrated experience advising high-net-worth individuals and global families

  • Familiarity with U.S. and non-U.S. tax and trust law considerations

  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills

  • Client-focused and collaborative working style

  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active member in good standing of the Bar in the state where the attorney will practice

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. and international tax compliance

  • Expertise in planning involving foreign trusts, offshore assets, and cross-border estate matters

  • Strong drafting skills with attention to detail

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities

  • Proficient in managing complex and confidential client matters
