Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Attorney for a fully remote position based in Birmingham, AL. The candidate must be licensed to practice law in Alabama, with additional state licensures preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in foreclosure law, bankruptcy, litigation, and a comprehensive understanding of property law.

Duties

  • Manage litigation caseload, including probate, title curative, wrongful foreclosure, and eviction matters.
  • Handle cases from referral through disposition, settlement, or verdict, attending court hearings and performing discovery.
  • Respond to disputes, adhere to investor guidelines, and comply with state and federal requirements.
  • Prepare and review documents for accuracy, including court filings and correspondence.
  • Resolve title issues and complete necessary curative actions for clear title.
  • Provide legal advice and research applicable statutes and case law.

Requirements

  • Possess and maintain knowledge of state laws and civil procedure.
  • Knowledge of federal court practice is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, real estate, or related litigation.
  • Experience in foreclosure, bankruptcy, or evictions preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to travel as needed.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Alabama.

  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and document drafting.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
