Job Overview

A prestigious law firm is seeking a Financial Restructuring Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its New York office. The ideal candidate will have a background in complex Chapter 11 matters and out-of-court workouts, representing a range of stakeholders including creditors, debtors, and asset purchasers. Location

Duties

• Represent clients in large Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings

• Advise creditors, debtors, lenders, bondholders, trade creditors, and asset purchasers

• Draft and negotiate restructuring agreements, motions, and other court filings

• Engage in both transactional and litigation aspects of restructuring matters

• Participate in court hearings, depositions, and mediation sessions

• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage case strategies

Requirements

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in financial restructuring or bankruptcy law

• Background at a major law firm preferred

• Experience representing stakeholders in corporate restructurings, distressed transactions, and complex bankruptcy cases

• Open to finance or litigation attorneys seeking a transition into restructuring

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active member in good standing with the New York State Bar (or eligibility to waive in)

Skills

• Strong understanding of bankruptcy law, financial restructuring, and creditor/debtor rights

• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and legal research abilities

• Ability to manage complex legal matters independently and within a team

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Detail-oriented and capable of handling high-stakes, time-sensitive cases
