General Liability Associate

Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced General Liability Litigation Associate for its office in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. This full-time position involves managing a caseload focused on personal and commercial lines of auto insurance defense, including trucking, rideshare, UM/UIM defense, and coverage litigation in both state and federal court. The successful candidate will have substantial litigation experience, strong legal writing and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.

Location:

Duties:

Case Management:

• Independently handle a broad caseload from inception through resolution

• Conduct legal research and develop case strategies

• Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents

• Ensure compliance with client litigation and billing guidelines

Client Interaction:

• Communicate directly with clients and provide updates on case developments

• Provide legal guidance and strategic advice to minimize risk and reach favorable outcomes

• Build and maintain strong client relationships

Litigation Work:

• Represent clients at court hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations

• Conduct discovery, including interrogatories, document reviews, and examinations under oath

Coverage Analysis:

• Analyze insurance policies for coverage obligations and liability exposure

• Negotiate and resolve coverage disputes with opposing parties

Team Collaboration:

• Work with fellow attorneys to ensure comprehensive case handling

• Mentor junior attorneys and legal support staff (for senior-level candidates)

Business Development:

• Participate in firm marketing initiatives and client development efforts

• Contribute to legal publications and attend industry events

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey

• Minimum of 5 years of insurance defense litigation and/or trial experience

• Prior experience in both state and federal court is required

• Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and analytical skills

• Excellent time management and organizational abilities

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Commitment to professional development and continuous learning

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

Certifications:

• Admitted to the New Jersey Bar

Skills:

• Expertise in litigation strategy, client advisement, and legal writing
