Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an Immigration Attorney to provide legal services to clients in various immigration matters, focusing particularly on Removal Defense work at the Portland Immigration Court and USCIS work at the Field Office. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, be compassionate, and exhibit exceptional writing proficiency and oral advocacy skills.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in immigration proceedings, primarily focused on Removal Defense at the Portland Immigration Court and USCIS work at the Field Office.
  • Provide legal counsel and representation in immigration matters, including asylum, deportation defense, family-based immigration, and naturalization.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis about immigration laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, and other legal documents.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and immigration authorities.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and interests in court and administrative hearings.

Requirements:

  • Graduated from a U.S. ABA-accredited law school.
  • Passed a State Bar exam.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in high-pressure environments.
  • Compassionate demeanor and keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional oral advocacy skills and strong writing proficiency.
  • Ability to stay organized and effectively problem-solve.
  • Prior experience in immigration law is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a U.S. ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the state of Oregon.
