Job Overview: The Data Privacy And Security Attorney will provide legal counsel to clients on matters related to data privacy, security, and compliance. They will draft and review privacy policies, conduct risk assessments, collaborate with cross-functional teams during cybersecurity incidents, stay updated with privacy laws, represent clients in legal proceedings, and advise on international data transfers.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on data privacy, security, and compliance matters.
  • Draft and review privacy policies, terms of use, and data protection agreements.
  • Conducted risk assessments and developed strategies to mitigate data-related risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address cybersecurity incidents and breaches.
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving privacy laws and regulations.
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings related to data breaches or privacy violations.
  • Advise on international data transfers and cross-border data flows.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar.
  • 6 years of experience practicing data privacy and security law.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US or CIPP/E certification preferred.
