A law firm in Rockville, MD, is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. The Immigration Attorney will provide comprehensive legal representation to clients facing removal proceedings and navigating the USCIS process. Strong communication skills, proficiency in Spanish, and a commitment to serving immigrant communities are essential for success in this role.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal representation to clients facing removal proceedings, including asylum claims, cancellation of removal, waivers, and other forms of relief.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop effective case strategies tailored to individual client circumstances.
  • Prepare and file motions, briefs, and other legal documents with immigration courts and USCIS.
  • Represent clients at immigration court hearings, USCIS interviews, and other proceedings.
  • Communicate with clients to explain legal options, provide updates on case progress, and address concerns or questions.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case management and delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration law, policies, and procedures to advocate effectively for clients and provide accurate legal advice.
  • Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness of immigration issues and available resources.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, records, and billing information in accordance with firm policies and ethical standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
  • Proficiency in Spanish with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving immigrant communities and advancing social justice.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferably, 2-3 years of experience practicing immigration law with a focus on removal defense and USCIS matters.
  • Experience representing clients in complex removal proceedings and working with vulnerable populations is preferred.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. state.
