Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of experience to join its team. This role involves handling both privacy-related litigation and transactional matters, including vendor and customer service agreements. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, and HIPAA, and have a strong background in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management. The position offers flexibility with a hybrid work schedule, along with weekly in-office expectations.

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on compliance with privacy and cybersecurity laws (e.g., CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, state biometric and health laws)
  • Manage privacy-related litigation, including class actions
  • Draft and negotiate vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Assist in breach response efforts, including risk management and compliance counseling
  • Contribute to business development activities and client relationship management
  • Work closely with partners and other attorneys on data privacy and cybersecurity matters
  • Engage in professional development and knowledge-sharing activities

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related fields
  • Experience in privacy litigation or transactional work, particularly vendor agreement drafting
  • Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws (CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Expertise in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and client management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification preferred, but not required

Skills:

  • Expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong litigation and transactional drafting skills
  • Knowledge of breach response procedures and risk management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
