Job Title: Litigation Attorney - Personal Injury

Job Overview:
A Richmond-based law firm is seeking an experienced litigator to manage personal injury matters through every phase of dispute resolution-from initial evaluation to final resolution. The role involves direct client representation in serious injury claims, complex negotiation, and trial preparation. Supported by a skilled internal team, the attorney will serve as the lead on cases, ensuring strategic advancement and high-quality legal advocacy for individuals seeking compensation and justice.

Duties:

• Handle personal injury files from intake through resolution

• Lead all litigation phases, including investigation, pleadings, discovery, trial, and appeal

• Assess injury claims and determine valuation within 30 days of case assignment

• Conduct monthly reviews of case files and legal strategy

• Draft and revise legal documents such as motions, discovery responses, pleadings, and demand packages

• Coordinate with clients, medical providers, expert witnesses, insurers, and third parties

• Advocate for clients during mediations, depositions, and court proceedings (state and federal)

• Ensure timely responses to client inquiries and team communications within 48 hours

• Negotiate settlements and prepare disbursement reviews for lien and expense reconciliation

• Provide mentorship or support to litigation team members when needed

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on litigation experience in personal injury law

• Substantial trial experience is required; experience in medical malpractice or wrongful death is preferred

• Strong drafting and negotiation skills

• Excellent ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal document management tools

• Capability to pass background and pre-employment screenings

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Certifications:

• An active member of the Virginia State Bar

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia
