Job Overview
A well-regarded law firm in Asheville, NC is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience to join its general litigation team. This role is especially well-suited for attorneys with interest or experience in land use, zoning, and real property litigation. The position provides an excellent opportunity to grow professionally while gaining hands-on experience working on a wide range of legal matters alongside experienced litigators.

Location

Duties

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other court documents

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex litigation matters, including land use, zoning, and business disputes

  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and trials

  • Assist with client consultations and case strategy discussions

  • Stay up to date on local, state, and federal laws related to land use, real estate, and litigation

  • Maintain organized case files in accordance with firm procedures

  • Communicate with clients to provide updates and gather relevant information

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in civil litigation

  • Interest or background in land use, zoning, or real property law is preferred

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina, or pending admission to the NC Bar

  • Ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously

  • Detail-oriented and proactive approach to casework

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar (or awaiting bar results)
