Job Title: Public Finance Career Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in Austin, TX, is actively seeking a Career Associate to join its Public Finance practice group. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex financing matters involving governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, and infrastructure projects nationwide. This non-partner track position is ideal for attorneys who are passionate about public finance law and desire a dynamic yet balanced professional path, including flexible work arrangements and reduced billable hour expectations.

Duties:

  • Support and advise clients in connection with municipal bonds, notes, and other debt obligations

  • Work on financing for capital projects such as public infrastructure, health care, education, low-income housing, water/wastewater systems, energy facilities, and tribal economic development

  • Assist in transactions involving public-private partnerships and securitizations

  • Participate in IRS audits and SEC enforcement matters related to public finance

  • Review and draft transactional documents and disclosure materials

  • Collaborate with deal teams across practice areas for comprehensive client service

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a public finance practice or a transactional/finance role in a law firm

  • Demonstrated interest in public finance, government law, or securities regulation

  • Member of a U.S. State Bar, with eligibility to waive into the state of residence (Texas preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple client projects concurrently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and document drafting proficiency

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities

  • Capable of handling due diligence and transactional closings independently

  • Self-directed, organized, and responsive to deadlines
