Job Overview:

A downtown-Dallas law firm is actively seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to support a dynamic and varied practice. The firm focuses on oil and gas law, business litigation and transactions, real estate and contract disputes, and closely held corporation/shareholder litigation. The role offers courtroom exposure, transactional drafting, and substantial flexibility in a collegial work environment.

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research using Lexis-Nexis

  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, briefs, and agreements

  • Participate in negotiations and support settlement discussions

  • Assist in case management, including client communication and strategic development

  • Represent clients in court with supervision and mentorship from senior counsel

  • Monitor and stay current on Texas business, oil and gas, and regulatory law

  • Utilize legal billing systems (e.g., Rocket Matter)

Requirements:

  • Admission to the Texas State Bar

  • Experience preferred (courtroom, drafting, negotiation)

  • Familiarity with Texas business law and/or oil and gas regulatory frameworks

  • Solid foundation in legal research and writing

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks proactively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas

Skills:

  • Proficiency with Lexis-Nexis

  • Strong legal drafting and oral advocacy skills

  • Organizational skills and time management

  • Ability to collaborate within a small team setting

  • Competence in managing billing software and time entries
