A law firm is seeking a State and Local Tax Associate Attorney for their Atlanta office. The State and Local Tax Associate Attorney will focus on state and local income, franchise, sales, and use taxes. The ideal candidate should possess strong skills and knowledge in these areas to provide counsel to clients on various state and local tax matters. This role requires individuals with excellent academic records, as well as exceptional writing and communication abilities. The candidate will join a dynamic team in a fast-paced law firm environment, offering legal services related to state and local tax issues.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on state and local tax matters, including income, franchise, sales, and use taxes.
  • Research and analyze state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist clients in tax planning, compliance, and audit defense.
  • Prepare and review tax filings and documentation.
  • Represent clients in state and local tax disputes and litigation.
  • Draft memoranda, opinions, and other legal documents related to state and local tax issues.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on complex state and local tax projects.
  • Stay updated on developments in state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and internal teams.

 

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of law firm or accounting firm experience in state and local tax.
  • Strong understanding of state and local income, franchise, sales, and use taxes.
  • Excellent academic records from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in good standing.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Bar admission in Georgia.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide strategic solutions.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
