A law firm in Stillwater is seeking a Civil Municipal Attorney with strong experience working on behalf of Minnesota communities. The candidate will advise city leaders on a range of legal matters and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws impacting municipalities.

 

Duties:

  • Advise city leaders on ethics, personnel, ordinances, contracts, land use, taxes, and finance matters.
  • Stay informed on changes to local, state, and federal laws affecting municipalities.
  • Draft city ordinances and contracts.
  • Review contracts and memoranda to protect the city’s legal interests.
  • Attend city council meetings and other city meetings as requested, including night meetings.
  • Respond to client inquiries promptly via phone, email, or in-person meetings.
  • Facilitate real estate development and draft related documents.
  • Handle litigation on behalf of the city, including court advocacy.

 

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice law in Minnesota and in good standing.
  • 3-5 years of experience in municipal representation or equivalent relevant experience preferred.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Minnesota.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
