Job Overview: The Maritime Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing legal support in the maritime practice area, including file review, legal analysis, research, drafting legal documents, representing clients in court, and trial preparation. The position requires a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and admission to practice in the State of Florida. The ideal candidate should possess 2-4 years of maritime experience, with experience in other practice areas considered a plus. Superior analytical, research, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Duties:

  • Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
  • Maintain an annual billable amount of 1950 hours
  • Represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and in depositions
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests
  • Collaborate in expert witness retention and preparation
  • Prepare for trials and attend as necessary
  • May require occasional travel

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of Maritime experience; experience in other practice areas a plus
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
  • Admitted to practice in the State of Florida; admission in other states a plus

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of Florida; admission in other states a plus
