Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a skilled Patent Agent with 2-6 years of legal experience and a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have IP experience, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution. Design engineering experience with a chip company is desirable, along with knowledge in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or similar areas. Admission to the USPTO is required, and bar licensure in California is a plus.

Duties:

• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Conduct patentability and infringement analyses.
• Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to develop patent strategies.
• Manage patent portfolios and ensure compliance with deadlines.
• Assist with patent litigation matters as needed.

Requirements:

• 2-6 years of legal experience.
• IP experience with drafting and patent prosecution.
• Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar.
• Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
• Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless network, or related areas.
• Admission to the USPTO.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferred.

Certifications:

• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
