Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Probate Attorney in Cookeville, TN to independently manage probate and conservatorship cases from start to finish. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent communication with clients and court personnel, and the ability to handle all aspects of estate administration and related filings efficiently. Candidates with outstanding research and writing skills, who can manage a full caseload and are comfortable using modern legal software, are encouraged to apply.

Duties

  • Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Oversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff.
  • Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings.
  • Work closely with and provide leadership to administrative staff concerning client billing, meetings, and invoicing.
  • Determine case strategies and solutions to serve clients' needs after analysis.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of accredited law school with Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.
  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Over 1 year of experience representing clients in a law firm.
  • Ability to work independently while handling a heavy caseload.
  • Proficiency in legal research software (Westlaw/Lexis).
  • Strong decision-making, public speaking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the state of Tennessee.
