A law firm in Allentown, PA is seeking an Immigration Associate Attorney. The attorney will work in a collaborative environment on all aspects of immigration matters. This includes conducting extensive legal research and writing, preparing for court hearings and asylum office interviews, attending client interviews at federal agency field offices, and representing clients at federal agency interviews and hearings. The ideal candidate should have impeccable research, writing, and organization skills, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Membership in moot court, pre-trial advocacy, or a law journal is preferred. Experience in trial or appellate advocacy, either in school or in practice, is also a plus.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting extensive legal research and writing on immigration matters.
  • Preparing senior attorneys for court hearings and asylum office interviews.
  • Attending client interviews and appointments at federal agency field offices.
  • Engaging in extensive client communication.
  • Visiting clients detained in federal prisons.
  • Reviewing and analyzing forms of immigration benefits and relief for individuals, families, and businesses.
  • Preparing submissions for various deportation defenses.
  • Coordinating and drafting paperwork related to removal defense, visas, permanent residence, and citizenship, including affidavits, petitions, and applications.
  • Keeping track of calendaring tasks and prioritizing assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Providing legal and organizational assistance to senior attorneys.
  • Preparing detailed memorandums and briefs in support of appellate litigation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to Practice Law in a U.S. Jurisdiction.
  • Membership in moot court, pre-trial advocacy, or a law journal preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in immigration law.
  • Experience in trial or appellate advocacy, either in school or in practice, is a plus.
  • Impeccable research, writing, and organization skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to set and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong commitment to client advocacy and representation.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:
