Job Overview:
A law firm based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2-5 years of post-J.D. experience to join its expanding team. The firm serves educational institutions, public entities, and private employers, offering litigation and advisory services on a wide range of legal matters. Duties:

  • Deliver legal support to school districts, education-focused organizations, and public employers across various compliance and governance issues.

  • Draft litigation documents, client advisories, policies, contracts, and legal correspondence.

  • Handle litigation and administrative hearings from initiation to resolution, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and trial prep.

  • Conduct detailed legal research and apply findings to real-world client matters.

  • Represent clients in administrative, arbitration, and court proceedings at the state and federal levels.

  • Collaborate with legal team members on strategy development and tailored client solutions.

  • Maintain attention to multiple cases and strict deadlines simultaneously.

  • Advise clients on general education, special education, labor and employment compliance, and related regulatory obligations.

  • Develop and deliver legal training programs and compliance presentations both virtually and on-site.

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois

  • 2-5 years of relevant legal practice (litigation, employment/labor, education, or public sector law)

  • Prior exposure to or interest in education, labor, or administrative law

  • Strong analytical, research, and writing abilities

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

  • Excellent verbal communication and client-service orientation

  • Willingness to participate in training and public speaking engagements

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar (required)

  • Missouri Bar admission (preferred)
