Job Overview: A law firm in Naperville, IL, is seeking an Immigration Associate Attorney to provide comprehensive legal services to clients navigating various immigration matters. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional advocacy skills, a commitment to ethical practice, and the ability to lead and support a diverse team.

Duties:

  • Creatively identify eligible immigration relief options for clients.
  • Strategize and advocate for clients facing challenging immigration questions.
  • Prepared clients for USCIS interviews and attended interviews when necessary.
  • Provide leadership, support, and training to the paralegal team and other non-lawyer staff.
  • Monitor and enforce ethical obligations for non-lawyer team members.
  • Answer legal questions from legal support teams.
  • Review and edit USCIS applications and supporting materials.
  • Stay informed about legislative, regulatory, administrative, and case law changes in immigration law.
  • Provide strategic insight on case processing and seek ways to improve legal processes.

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active membership in good standing of a State Bar.
  • Experience working with, training, and supervising non-lawyer staff.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have previous experience in an immigration law firm handling humanitarian and family-based visa applications (e.g., VAWA, T-Visa, U-Visa, Asylum, Medical DA, I-601, DS-260, DS-160, I-130, N-400).
