A law firm seeks a driven Associate with four to seven years of litigation experience to join its Denver, CO office through our recruiting services. In this role, you will focus on subrogation and recovery matters, representing clients in court proceedings and working alongside forensic specialists to pursue claims arising from property damage.

Duties

  • Represent clients in civil actions in both federal and state courts, pursuing recovery for property loss and related damages

  • Coordinate with forensic professionals—such as fire origin investigators, structural and mechanical engineers, and accounting experts—to assess liability and financial exposure

  • Draft and file pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and legal briefs tailored to subrogation matters

  • Prepare for and participate in court hearings, presenting arguments and advocating on behalf of clients

  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses, experts, and involved parties

  • Maintain clear and timely communication with clients, expert consultants, and opposing counsel to advance case strategy

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Admission to the Colorado bar (required)

  • Four to seven years of civil litigation experience, preferably involving product defect claims, property damage lawsuits, construction disputes, or property insurance recoveries

  • Proven track record collaborating with various forensic experts to analyze the legal and factual underpinnings of subrogation claims

  • Strong drafting skills, including comfort preparing detailed pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

  • Excellent oral advocacy, with demonstrated ability to argue motions and examine witnesses effectively

  • Ability to work autonomously on assigned files and coordinate seamlessly within a team environment

  • Willingness to travel as necessary for site inspections, depositions, or trial appearances

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited institution, with evidence of solid academic performance (e.g., law review, moot court, honors programs)

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Colorado State Bar (required)

  • Federal court admission (preferred but not mandatory)

  • Exceptional legal research and analytical abilities to pinpoint relevant case law and statutory authority

  • Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing expert reports, financial records, and policy language

  • Strong written communication for crafting persuasive briefs, motions, and correspondence
