Job Title: Private Credit Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A prestigious law firm based in Chicago, IL, seeks a Private Credit Associate Attorney to support its expanding private credit and finance practice. This role focuses on a range of complex financing transactions, offering opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic team.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on private credit and finance matters, focusing on lending transactions.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review credit documents, loan agreements, and security agreements.
  • Advise on cash flow deals, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and recapitalizations.
  • Participate in asset-based financings, restructurings, and workouts, as applicable.
  • Work directly with clients, including borrowers and financial institutions, to facilitate transaction closings.
  • Conduct legal research to support financing deals and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations and market trends.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant legal experience in private credit/finance.
  • Proven experience with lending transactions; borrower-side exposure is beneficial.
  • Broad experience across various financing transactions, especially cash flow lending, leveraged buyouts, and recapitalizations.
  • Exposure to asset-based financings, restructurings, and workouts is a strong plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • An active member in good standing with a state bar.

Certifications:

  • State Bar admission in Illinois or eligibility for admission on motion if licensed in another state.

Skills:

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills in private credit and finance matters.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with an aptitude for collaborating across departments and with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
