A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney with a focus on patent preparation and prosecution. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background, relevant experience, and exceptional communication skills. The role requires expertise in electrical engineering or computer science, with a preference for additional experience in patent prosecution related to software, data science, AI, networking technologies, and machine learning.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities in the areas of electrical engineering, computer science, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, and machine learning.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand and analyze inventions, providing legal advice and strategies for patent protection.
  • Draft and review patent applications, responses to office actions, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research to support intellectual property matters and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) are required.

 

Skills:

  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Strong law firm, engineering, and industry experience.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Expertise in patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
  • Preferred experience in data science/AI, networking technologies, machine learning, and hardware security.
