A law firm in Tampa is seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense. The ideal candidate will handle various legal responsibilities including drafting, reviewing, and analyzing legal documents, reports, pleadings, motions, and discovery notices and responses. They will also take and defend depositions, appear in court for conferences, motions, and hearings, and conduct legal research using resources like Westlaw. Experience in insurance defense is preferred, along with the ability to manage complex cases, lead discovery efforts, conduct depositions, and consult with expert witnesses. Superior writing and litigation skills are essential for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Draft, review, and analyze legal documents, reports, pleadings, motions, and discovery notices/responses.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Appear in court for conferences, motions, and hearings.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw and other tools.
  • Manage complex cases and oversee discovery processes.
  • Interview and consult with expert witnesses as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Florida State Bar or eligible for admission.
  • 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases, conduct depositions, and handle expert witnesses.
  • Strong proficiency in legal research using Westlaw or similar platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Certifications and Skills:

  • Admission to the Florida State Bar or eligibility for admission.
  • Experience in insurance defense litigation is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Exceptional writing and litigation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
