A law firm in Tampa is seeking a Mid-level Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense. The successful candidate will work closely with partners on complex cases, handling research, motion drafting, ADR, court appearances, depositions, and trial preparations.

 

Duties:

  • Work with partners on all complex cases, including research, motion drafting, ADR (mediation and arbitration), and court appearances.
  • Handle a variety of case types and learn new legal strategies and procedures.
  • Conduct depositions of various parties, including law enforcement, plaintiffs/claimants, fact witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.
  • Attend court proceedings, including jury trials, as second chair with opportunities for lead roles.
  • Mediate, arbitrate, and negotiate resolutions for cases.
  • Draft relevant legal pleadings and discovery documents.
  • Argue motions to various tribunals, including state and federal courts.
  • Meet or exceed billable hour requirements.
  • Utilize strong research and writing skills gained through law review and mock trial experiences.
  • Apply ADR training to facilitate dispute resolutions.

 

Requirements:

  • Law degree from an accredited school.
  • Active Florida Bar license.
  • 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense.
  • Familiarity with handling complex cases and various legal procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with partners and support staff.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Florida.
  • ADR training experience preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to conduct depositions and argue motions effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with insurance defense litigation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
