The law firm is seeking a highly qualified Mid-level Patent Agent with a strong academic background, substantial law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering or computer science, with expertise in patent prosecution related to electrical engineering, software, data science/AI, networking technologies, and machine learning/artificial intelligence. Admission to the USPTO is required for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent searches and analyses to assess patentability and infringement issues.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the areas of electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, and machine learning/artificial intelligence.
  • Provide technical and legal support in patent litigation and licensing matters.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to understand and develop patent strategies.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Solid understanding of patent laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and machine learning/artificial intelligence.
  • Familiarity with hardware security.

 

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in conducting patent searches and analyses.
  • Ability to draft and prosecute patent applications effectively.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of current patent laws and regulations.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented.
