Job Title: Patent Lawyer

Job Overview: A law firm based in Orlando, FL is seeking a skilled Patent Lawyer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting patent applications, conducting patent searches, and providing legal counsel on patent-related matters. The role requires collaboration with inventors, paralegals, and other personnel to ensure timely and accurate submission of patent documents.

Job Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions
  • Consult with inventors to ascertain the scope and aspects eligible for patent protection
  • Liaise with paralegals and other personnel to complete and submit relevant documents
  • Conduct patent searches and assess possible infringement
  • Work in a self-directed manner with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Maintain registration with the USPTO
  • Obtain admission to the Florida Bar within 1 year if not already barred in FL
  • Utilize expertise in patent preparation, patent office inquiries, and the PCT process
  • Pay meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of patent law practice

Requirements:

  • Hold an engineering degree, though other technical degrees will be considered
  • Registered with the USPTO
  • Florida Bar admission preferred, or willingness to sit for and pass the FL Bar exam within 1 year
  • Minimum of 3 years (will consider 2) experience as a registered patent attorney/agent
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in patent preparation and patent office procedures
  • A keen eye for detail and ability to analyze complex technical information
