Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Attorney specializing in Qualified Plans to join their Compensation and Benefits practice group in Palo Alto, CA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in advising on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans, including ERISA compliance and related regulatory matters.

Duties

• Advise on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans.
• Ensure ERISA compliance and manage plan design and administration.
• Counsel on benefit plan issues in mergers and acquisitions.
• Draft plan documents and disclosures.
• Conduct compliance testing and manage IRS and Department of Labor filings.
• Handle audits and correction matters.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant legal experience.
• Experience with ESOP transactions and ERISA plan asset rules preferred.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Superior writing, oral communication, and analytical skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

• Bar admission in the state of California.
