Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate in Palo Alto, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in executive compensation and employee benefits law, including equity plans, executive retention packages, and compensation arrangements in mergers and acquisitions. Duties

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support transaction preparation.
  • Draft well-reasoned legal documents, including memos and contracts.
  • Assist in managing complex cases and transactions from inception to resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional support and advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative transaction strategies.
  • Participate in high-level legal activities, including client meetings and negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and stay updated on legal precedents.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance legal and leadership skills.
  • Contribute to firm programs, civic organizations, and pro bono work.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and good business judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • 2+ years of applicable AmLaw 100 firm experience preferred.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school (LLM in Tax and/or Employee Benefits Certificate preferred).

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice in the state of California.

  • Conceptual thinking and persuasive communication.
  • Management skills and ability to work under pressure.
