A law firm in Chicago, IL, seeks a Personal Injury Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of meaningful personal injury jury trial experience. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently preparing and trying civil personal injury cases in State and Federal Court, negotiating client settlements, overseeing Service of Process, responding to Discovery, and maintaining excellent client communication.

Duties:

  • Independently prepare and try civil personal injury cases in State and Federal Court.
  • Negotiate client settlements as appropriate.
  • Oversee Service of Process and respond to Discovery.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, keeping them updated on their files.
  • Work with law clerks and paralegals to manage case documentation and deadlines.
  • Utilize strong computer skills, including proficiency in Lexis-Nexis and the ability to learn Case Management software.
  • Travel to Du Page, Kane, Lake, Will, Kendall, and Cook County suburban courtrooms as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
  • 3-5 years of meaningful personal injury jury trial experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong research and writing skills for drafting briefs and legal documents.
  • Proficiency in Lexis-Nexis and ability to learn Case Management software.
  • Access to a car for travel to courtrooms in various counties.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar.

Skills:

  • Personal injury jury trial experience.
  • Case preparation and trial experience in State and Federal Court.
  • Negotiation skills for client settlements.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Research and writing ability for legal documents.
