A law firm in Farmington Hills, MI, is seeking a Tax Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience to work on a diverse range of legal matters under the direction of the Managing Attorney. The candidate will maintain a large and active caseload, manage cases from inception through closing, engage with clients, conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, negotiate resolutions, and represent clients in court proceedings.

 

Duties:

  • Work on a diverse range of legal matters under the direction of the Managing Attorney.
  • Maintain a large and active caseload, managing cases from inception through closing.
  • Engage with clients to understand their legal needs, provide guidance, and maintain effective communication throughout the legal process.
  • Independently handle day-to-day decision-making and develop resolution strategies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants regarding assigned matters.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to provide legal advice and strategy for clients.
  • Prepare and review legal documents and pleadings to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate resolution of cases with governmental counterparts.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including administrative hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
  • Manage and organize legal documents, records, and case files, ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping.
  • Stay updated on changes in the law and legal precedents by attending legal seminars, workshops, and pursuing additional legal education as necessary.
  • Collaborate with fellow attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff to work effectively as a team, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Actively seek opportunities for professional growth, development, and networking within the legal community.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Michigan.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an attorney, with a strong foundation in legal principles and practices.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dedication to upholding ethical and professional standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A finance/accounting background is a plus.
