Patent Agent needed for Saint Louis office

Saint Louis office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a patent agent with 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably in legal services. The candidate will be responsible for managing valuable patent assets and assessing patent risk for the clients. Will work under the supervision and guidance of partners in the firm's Intellectual Property section and perform a variety of patent-related activities, primarily in the areas of patent prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, and due diligence work. Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients. Focus on patent filings, due diligence, landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, and validity assessment arising from collaboration with industry partners. Support all aspects of Patent litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trials. Draft responses to the rejection of a patent application for an invention from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and other worldwide Patent Offices. Work with clients on innovative and cutting-edge technologies to procure patent protection and build IP portfolios. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field essential. Industry experience (or equivalent) in the fields of Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and/or Machine Learning is strongly preferred. Must be registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Should have proven ability to concentrate on management and pay close attention to the details of projects. Must establish and maintain internal practices, procedures, and technology for coordinating and streamlining patent-related information, filings, and deadlines. Should have advanced writing skills with the ability to research information as needed to clearly and concisely communicate ideas to internal and external clients. Must have the ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with lawyers, firm management, staff, and clients one-on-one, both verbally and through written correspondence, surveys, memos, etc. Proven project management, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and meet essential deadlines. Ability to work well under pressure with flexibility and adaptability to changing work priorities, workflow, and work assignments needed. Should have the ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate projects as needed, including working evenings or a weekend on occasion. Should have the ability to diplomatically provide answers, pushback, or question those in authority for greater clarity or more information, if needed. Proven ability to think creatively, using good judgment and decision-making capabilities needed.
