Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney with 1–4 years of experience to join its Estate Planning Practice Group. The role offers an opportunity to work on complex estate planning matters, including trust administration, charitable giving, tax strategy, and business succession planning for high-net-worth clients. This position is ideal for a candidate with a passion for providing sophisticated legal counsel and a strong desire to be part of a collaborative legal team.

Location:

  • Madison, WI

Duties:

  • Draft complex estate plans and business succession planning documents

  • Advise high-net-worth individuals and business clients on wealth management strategies

  • Assist with probate proceedings for taxable and non-taxable estates

  • Counsel clients on income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax planning

  • Draft complex charitable giving and tax-exempt organization planning documents

  • Process Federal gift and estate tax returns

  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the Estate Planning Practice Group

Requirements:

  • 1–4 years of relevant experience in trust and estate planning

  • Proficiency in estate and trust administration, tax planning, and charitable giving strategies

  • Strong legal writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality legal service and teamwork

  • Active bar membership in good standing (or eligibility for timely admission in the office location)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (must be in good standing)

  • Admission to the Bar corresponding to office location (required as a condition of employment)

Skills:

  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple complex matters

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, professional environment
