Job Overview: A law firm in Portland, OR, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their trial and appellate lawyers team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on medical/malpractice cases being highly desirable. They must possess exceptional writing skills, proficiency in drafting and arguing civil motions, experience in taking and defending depositions, and the ability to prepare cases for trial effectively.

Job Details:

  • Provide legal representation to clients in various litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and arguments.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, trials, and other court proceedings.
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on case management and strategy.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably focusing on medical/malpractice cases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Admittance to the Washington State Bar (preferred but not required).

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar.
  • Admittance to the Washington State Bar (preferred).

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and arguments.
